 DOT physical exams determine if a driver is capable of safely operating a commercial motor vehicle including usual operations surrounding a CDL operator. After a successful examination, a medical examiner’s certificate (med card) is issued on site.  A full medical certificate is valid for one or two years.

Per government requirements (effective May 2014), CDL drivers can no longer get a valid medical certificate from any healthcare provider.  Instead, DOT medical exams must be completed by a Certified Medical Examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) database, such as our Lone Star DOT Corporation medical examiners. #5736664459
